It was like being in a commercial – with the bright sunshine, skies with beautiful puffy clouds, the ocean waves crashing – what a BLAST! This is our second time to St. Croix – It must be this side of the island – not bothered by bugs during stay (last year, mosquitoes terrible on Cotton Valley Shore!) Read 2 complete books during stay – Thanks to Barry for being so prompt and efficient. |

We roamed around the island; visting the beer drinking pigs in the rain forest to snorkeling Cane Bay and Buck Island. We went to the Friday night buffet at Carambola's it was awesome. They had King Crab to die for. Great entertainment and great food. Would definately like to stay here again! |

The house is lovely and the views spectacular.....and Barry did everything he coulde to make us comfortable. The "Christmas Winds" Blew every day; nearly blowing us off the patio and blowing the deck chairs into the pool so take care you set down a towel or take off sandles! We toured the island did some shopping and enjoyed the resturants. What a great time! |

We enjoyed diving around the whole island, it's great that it is not overdeveloped or populated. The walk-in diving at Cane Bay was great & Beautiful! We all decided that a trip to the island wouldn't be complete without staying here. The light breeze and spectacular views are something that will stay with me forever. The Cruzons are friendloy and there is more "stuff" to do than you can pack in a week. I plan on returning again when I can bring my kids, as they are too your to experience all that the island has to offer. Thank you for helping make this "the family vacation of a lifetime". Oh, and be sure to find Tan, Tan Tours which is the jeep trek across the island, it is great! Who knows I might just be one of the drivers! "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED" |

| 28 | Setteredhead Family | The Breakers St. Croix - A Great Getaway I visited St. Croix for my honeymoon and we were very pleased with our choice of destination. We rented a large waterfront villa, The Breakers, from vacation St Croix. We were very pleased with the house and were even more excited when we did not run into another honeymooning couple. The house was located just outside of chistensted in Judith's Fancy, a gated community. We always felt very safe and left the house wide open during the day when we would leave. The house did not have very close neighbors and it was right on the beach. I also recommend using Vacation St. Croix (they rent villas on other islands also) because they took care of our rental car and excursion bookings free of charge. They also stocked our fridge for us and had lunch waiting when we arrived. They have very good customer service and were right on with all of their recommendations. The villa we stayed at would also be good for a family with kids. Activities: Buck Island tour - the reef grotto is beautiful. We were able to snorkel with a sting ray and barracuda and the service (through Big Beards) was great. Cruzan Rum Factory - good tour that is interesting. Tour guide/bartender was very friendly and had no problem keeping our glasses full of liquor. Point Udall - most eastern point of the US. You must go here just to say that you've been. The island is about 45 miles long, so the drive is short. We stopped at Cheeseburgers in Paradise on the way. The snorkeling on the surrounding beaches wasn't that great though. Kayaking in Hurricane Bay - worth it. Fun afternoon with good service - there is one company there that does this. We were able to see cool wildlife as well. Shopping in Christensted - good. Exactly what I expected on a Caribbean island. Gone Tropical was my favorite store. Fredricksted - not much there. Didn't feel too safe either when we drove through. We weren't too surprised to hear that the cruise ships pulled out of there. Also remember to stay away from the areas surrounding the airport and oil refinery. We heard the snorkeling by Off the Wall (a great little beach shack to watch sunsets) was the best, but we weren't impressed. I bet it is great if you dive, which we do not. All the locals we spoke with were very friendly. We would meet some and see them again randomly during the week. We never felt unsafe. Cons - not much nightlife at all. We rented a few movies during our week and watched more TV then usual. We visited in July 2 - August 2, which is also off-season and less expensive. We have visited several other islands in the Caribbean and out of them we wouldn't go back to Jamaica. Recommended Yes best Suited For Couples Best Time to Travel Here is Dec - Feb. The Bottom Line We would definitely go to St. Croix again. Very pretty, interesting history, and many things to do. This place requires relaxing. | |

Unfortunately, the day after we finalized our travel arrangements, Bill was in a serious motorcycle accident. After two surgeries and months of recouperation and rehab here we finally are one month shy of our 31st! It was worth waiting for...sunrise through the panoramic master windows, to the fiery sunsets, to the daily rainbows (we saw a double rainbow on the 16th)this was the best and most restful vacation we have ever had! Our thanks to Marti, Carl and the lady who made our first night wine and cheese arrangements. This is an experience we would love to repeat but, in the meantime, will certainly share with anyone who asks and everyone who would love to experience the trip of a lifetime!! |
